I love airports! I always try to get to airports early: 1. Don't want to miss a flight (coming from Indonesia where it takes 2 hours to get to CGK without traffic from where I live and about 5 hours with traffic, one must always be prepared). 2. I like to get through checkin fast, then just enjoy the sights of other people rushing to their gates, making up stories as I go.
I heard from an Indonesian friend about the traffic... I thought she was exaggerating but clearly not. And yes to making up stories. The airport makes me feel like a movie director, visualizing stories on strangers haha
Lovely ode to the airport! I have always loved the airy, transitional space that airports provide. It is a strange familiar place to me. A breathing space between jumps.
I also want to know what drama unfolded in OSL⦠my hometown airport!
Haha it was really my fault - the kind gentleman explained to me that my carry on was over the weight limit by 0.2kg and laughed at me when I tried to persuade him to just let me through lol he told me rules are to be followed and forced me to throw something weighing 200g or more out π had to say goodbye to some toothpaste and a notebook
Noooo not the notebook!! π I guess you couldnβt stuff anything into your carryon or pockets at that point. I hope you had a good stay wherever it was that you were visiting at least?
On the one hand I used to travel a lot for work and also loved the non-place-ness of airports. It's like...a freedom of identity, a place to be no one, in transit
On the other hand I sense that you haven't experienced REALLY SHITTY RAGE INDUCING AIRPORTS LIKE CHICAGO O'HARE hahahahhaha
